FT Picks
Hi all, I hope your weekend is better than mine. Despite having so much fun at my work Christmas party that I organised. Afterwards meeting up with my training college friends as I've finished media graphic design training, I could feel my usual chest problems beginning. I woke up to chest pains, blocked nose, feeling dizzy and all. Believe me, I wasn't shouting my lungs out last night as I didn't stay that long, it started before that. Well, what happens is whenever the weather changes it affects my chest (I have regular chest infection which is caused by increase in blood cells or whatever the Dr said that day...was too sick to concentrate)!!!I normally get sick when I go to Tanzania as well, which reminds me, I'm off next week for holiday and to meet family. Anyway, I thought i would grace you all with my picks for today or maybe this weekend..these can be for work/outing especially as so many work places have Christmas drinks/party after work. Some of these are just outfits i picked that i absolutely adored for myself...so enjoy..I'm going back to dozing...

Beyonce vs Rihanna
Hi everyone, a thought came to me as I was reading everyone's comment on Beyonce's Green Dress. To tell you the truth, I love the colour on her but my opinion stays the same; it looks too tight on her even though she looks great in the colour. Anyway Rihanna wore a similar dress at the World music awards early this year and I just wondered which one do you think looks better?

The Curvaceous on the thick side Beyonce who I prefer her fashion outside the red carpet or

A Thinner, yet Curvaceous Rihanna who's stylist has been dressing her with trend setting styles since the Good girl gone bad album.
All up to you...

Beyonce: Out and about or On Red Carpet

Beyonce always looks hot but here... mmmm, tunamkubali tu coz she's Beyonce but that dress... it should have been black.

Hi Mrs KBC, Thank you for visiting Finishing Touches. I must say to every viewer out there this woman has talent seriously (My pretty poet, if it is). Anyway I totally agreed with your comment hence why I decided to dedicate a post to it. I actually thought beyonce in this dress, looked like she was forcing it. it's too tight, for a person too shapely and i would definitely agree with it being black which would have made her look slimmer, stylish yet still propotionally curvy. I, myself love beyonce's fashion when she is out and about and not on the red carpet as it's always over done. She is a pretty woman and never needs too much...so I picked some of her recent style that I found really personifies Beyonce's real style as person.

I absolutely fell in love with this look, it' so classy and the mixture of colours is perfect and normally people wouldn't think it would work but it did

Well, a shorter version won't hurt but I found FCUK have really cute purple dress similar to what Beyonce is wearing

If you asked me, which DC I like, I would definitely choose Kelly Rowland, she is naturally beautiful and I find her so humble, classy stylish, someone you can almost relate to and her voice is unique although she may not be as popular as Beyonce but One day I am hoping she will have her very deserved break.
Appreciate me, I appreciate you

I just posted my comment here coz i didn't know where else to post it. I love you blog a lot!!! Question: how do you keep up with all these trends without burning a hole in your pockets. Also, I am in love with African classy styles but I have no idea where to find them, can you please recommend?????

I get so excited to see people with interest in FT fashion and to titi, I'd like to say thank you for visiting Finishing Touches. I'd first like to ask where you are? Reason being if you are in Tanzania I would say, look for the best dress maker and Congolese men are very good tailors as far as I have experienced. My mum's in particular can follow any design you give him, unfortunately he is traveling so much that my plan of actually making him available to you (meaning finishing touches African Design lovers) has had to be put back until I am able to get someone else who I know can do as good a job. My advice for now, try different tailors and you'll get the best one!!
In case you are in the west, I have found Nigerian people would know someone who makes clothes like these. I'm in UK, and I used to make my African-Western inspired clothes from this Nigerian Designer called Aria. She had beautiful clothes but I found they suit the older generation (i.e. My mother) and I wanted to wear all new trends so i asked her if her tailor would make my designs and they did. Unfortunately, as every career oriented woman (i'm a graphic designer as well as work in medical publishing), I became busy and lost contact and found that she had moved. Since then, i have found this beautiful boutique called Sika (pictured) located in these areas:

They are a bit pricey so they will burn a hall on your pocket but they are totally worth it!!
You also asked about following fashion and if it puts a hall in my pocket, well i have this strategy which I have found works sometimes!! When i find something that I know I truelly want but it can wait, I save up for it till I get it. Obviously fashion doesn't wait for you so other ways are to buy the same style but cheaper. If you like anything in the site let me know what it is and I will try my best to let you know where you can purchase it whether in UK or USA!! As for those in Tanzania, Finishing Touches is coming very soon...I am in the process of finalising everything!!
I hope I have been helpful to you..and keep visiting finishing touches.
